Welcome to Yawajeewa Community Learning Centre.
Yawajeewa CLC is a centre especially for children. Its prime objective is to take care of school drop outs, special able children and street children. Children are taken care of and receive food, daily shelter and education. These children receive extra love and care from a small team of teachers. Ultimately these children are prepared to be able to go to normal schools to further develop their unique gifts and skills.
A secondary objective is to teach mothers new skills so they can take care of themselves and their children and to enable them to earn better wages.
A supporting objective is to become self sustaining. A block of land is being developed for harvesting crops that can be sold. Thus making Yawajeewa less dependant on funds.

Meet the founding father and mentor of Yawajeewa CLC. His name is Sunil Shanta. He is a school inspector responsible for the needs of various regular schools in the region of Negombo.
In his spare time Sunil set up Yawajeewa Community Learning Centre. For he noticed that there was no eduation for these particular children. For many years he is the inspiring man behind all the good work done for these children.
